Person found dead on tracks after trains delayed between Perth and Dundee

Trains were delayed between Perth and Dundee at the weekend after a person was found dead on the tracks.

Police and paramedics were called to Invergowrie station shortly after 10pm on Saturday following reports of a casualty on the line.

Trains were delayed for around 90 minutes due to the emergency response.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “We were called to Invergowrie station shortly after 10pm on Saturday (September 12) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.”
