Police cordon off Perth shop after window smashed during break-in

A shop in Perth has been taped off by police after a break-in.

Officers were called to the Day-Today convenience store, on Dunkeld Road, shortly after midnight on Sunday.

It remained cordoned off on Sunday morning.

A window has been smashed and the door is boarded over.

One Perth resident told The Courier: “I was coming along to the shops when I noticed that the pavement was blocked off with police tape.

“As I got closer, I saw they were outside the Day-Today shop and the righthand window had been completely smashed in.

“There was glass everywhere in front of the window and a set of loppers on the ground.

“The front door is still boarded up from a couple months ago when it was smashed in.

“Someone passing by said they can’t believe it had been hit again, as that was three or four times now.

“There was one police car sitting outside and a white forensics unit van, with the forensics officer dabbing the loppers with something before taking them away to her van.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.20am on Sunday 20 September 2026, police were called to a report of a theft by housebreaking at a premises in Dunkeld Road, Perth.

“Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0059 of Sunday 20 September.

“Alternatively, details can be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
