Forklift destroyed in Blairgowrie fire as plumes of smoke visible across town

A forklift has been destroyed in a fire in Blairgowrie.

Emergency services were called to an industrial estate on Back Brae at around 9am on Monday.

Two fire crews are tackling the blaze.

The Courier’s reporter Lucy Scarlett is at the scene.

She said: “You could see the smoke from the industrial yard from outside the town.

“On approach, there’s a strong smell of fumes.

“The forklift is completely burnt, and firefighters are continuing to dampen it down.

“Back Brae remains open to vehicles.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to reports of a vehicle fire at a premises on Back Brae in Blairgowrie shortly after 9am.

“We have two appliances currently on scene.”

A spokesperson later confirmed that the fire had been extinguished with firefighters receiving a stop call at 10.39am.

Firefighters remained on site until around 11.30am.
